Dumfries and Galloway forces charity offers chance to win a grand's worth of fuel

A forces charity is offering the chance to win a grand’s worth of fuel for a fiver.Southwest RNR, which helps military veterans retrain as HGV drivers, has launched a special raffle.And the owner of the winning ticket will land a voucher for £1,000 of fuel or goods to be purchased at St Michael’s Services garages in Dalry, Dumfries, Moffat and Newton Stewart.Charity boss Robin Hood, who lives near Mossdale, said: “It’s 500 tickets at £5 each.“So you’ve got a 500 to one chance rather than a one in a million chance, which I think is pretty good.“The funds raised will pay for another veteran to go through their training.“Since I started doing this in 2016 we’ve now been able to train up 82 veterans.“Jamie Wood, who own’s St Michael’s Services, and I have been friends for almost 40 years.“We were commissioned together at Sandhurst and he is a great supporter of our charity.”Tickets will be available at the Midsteeple in Dumfries between 10am and 2pm on Fridays.
