A failed music festival boss who ran up almost £1million in debt has just £2.38 in the bank to pay creditors.Dozens of furious performers, staff and firms were not paid when Jamie Murray shut down the company behind his Doune the Rabbit Hole Festival 18 months ago.His dad, jailed Salmond blogger Craig Murray, took over the running of the Stirlingshire festival for 2023 as another company, with a plan to repay debts from his son’s firm through profits from the event.But it was called off a month before it was due to go ahead and now creditors won’t get a penny.Politicians and trade union chiefs have called for a probe into why it was allowed to proceed.SNP MP for Stirling Alyn Smith said: “Businesses fold and that is unfortunate but there’s a smell to this and there was already ­considerable concern about the licensing and practicalities of this event.

The organisers and Stirling Council have questions to answer.”Doune The Rabbit Hole Festival Ltd’s finances are revealed in a liquidators’ report showing debt worth nearly £1million.

But when it closed on December 8, 2022, only £2.38 was left to cover the dues. The report published on February 16 said no creditors had been paid.

The 2022 event was held at Cardross Estate near Stirling.Months later artists and staff said they had yet to be paid and Murray set up a crowdfunder to raise £60,000 to pay them.
