Devastation after 'lovely' and 'sweet' girl, 20, dies suddenly

A "caring and deciated" student has died aged 20. Flowers have been laid for Alice McGrath on the campus of Edge Hill Univeristy in Ormskirk, Lancs, where she was studying when she died suddenly on September 5.

One of her former tutors has now led the tributes to her. Dr Michael Richards, senior lecturer in applied health and social care at Edge Hill, who worked closely with her, told the Liverpool Echo: "Everyone at Edge Hill University is deeply saddened by the loss of Alice. "She was a caring and dedicated student who was committed to building a career focused on supporting and caring for young people in need. She will be greatly missed by her peers and tutors. Our thoughts are with her family and friends during this difficult time, and we will continue to honour her memory within our community." A number of tributes have been paid on social media for Alice, who was a previously pupil at Maricourt Catholic High School in the Maghull, Merseyside.

Many have said how Alice will be "missed". Marion Brennan wrote on Facebook: "RIP Alice. Such lovely young lady x x." Emily Hankin said: "Rest in peace Alice.
