Detectives working to identify man pulled from River Roch in tragedy

Police are working to identify a man whose body was pulled from water in Rochdale. His body was pulled from the River Roch yesterday morning (Wednesday) after being spotted in the water at around 6.30am.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said this morning that investigations are now underway to try and identify him and contact his next of kin.

No further details on the circumstances of how he came to be in the water have been released at this stage. Police officers, including crime scene investigators, firefighters and paramedics were pictured on the scene. A white tent was erected near a stretch of the river.
