British actor Adrian Schiller has died "suddenly" and unexpectedly, his agent has announced. The 60-year-old previously appeared in the hit BBC show Death in Paradise, as well as Netflix's The Last Kingdom and Victoria on ITV.

Scott Marshall Partners, who represented Adrian for more than 30 years, said in a statement released on Thursday 4 April: “He has died far too soon, and we, his family and close friends are devastated by the loss. “His death was sudden and unexpected and no further details around its cause are yet available. “A prodigiously talented actor, he had just returned from Sydney, where he had been appearing in The Lehman Trilogy and was looking forward to continuing the international tour in San Francisco.” Adrian had been playing Ealdorman Aethelhelm in three series of the Netflix show, The Last Kingdom, from 2015 to 2022.The British historical drama is based on Bernard Cornwell's The Saxon Stories set of books, and initially premiered on BBC Two before moving to the streaming service for series two.

In 2021, Adrian appeared as Pasha Verdinikov in two episodes of Death in Paradise titled Music to My Ears and Fake or Fortune.

He played a concert pianist who was brutally murdered in his studio late at night in an apparent burglary. In the first of the two episodes, DI Neville Parker (played by Ralf Little) concluded quickly that the scene was staged and suspected Pasha's family, including his wife who was played by Lia Williams, and his housekeeper of plotting his death and the coverup.
