Once billed as the most promising youngster at Carrington, Morrison ultimately failed to realise his undoubted potential. The 30-year-old has played for 13 different clubs since his United exit.

He said: “He (Morrison) was so good. He made a couple of men look very silly. I’m not naming names… Darren Fletcher. Fletch got it one day!” Welbeck, now enjoying life on the south coast at Brighton, also revealed how he owns an important piece of footballing memorabilia.
