Coronation Street legend Barbara Knox marvels as cast glam up for special party on the cobbles

Coronation Street legend Barbara Knox has been seen marvelling at her very own cobbles-themed birthday cake as the cast and crew came out in force to celebrate her upcoming major milestone.

It was revealed earlier this week that the actress, famed for playing Rita Tanner, was to celebrate with the ITV soap's cast and crew this weekend ahead of the Corrie favourite celebrating her 90th birthday at end of this month, more specifically on September 30.

Marking the occasion early, the long-running show had released a gorgeous photo of the star. In the picture, which has been on social media, Barbara can be seen smiling for the camera while dazzling in a glistening outfit featuring golden lines and intricate patterns. Corrie's famous Paperboy from outside the Kabin had been dragged in with a message reading: "HAPPY BIRTHDAY BARBARA!" There was also a gorgeous gold sign that had been wrapped in beautiful flowers, again with a message reading: "Happy Birthday Barbara." The birthday girl was seen being presented with a three-tier birthday cake that had been decorated with a film reel showing some of her most memorable moments.
