Cakes da Killa has announced a new LP titled Black Sheep. The New Jersey-born rapper, a major figure in queer hip-hop’s ascendance over the past decade, is scheduled to release the album on March 22 via Young Art Records.

The record is produced by Sam Katz, who also produced Cakes’s last album, 2022’s Svengali. Featured guests include Dawn Richard and Wuhryn Dumas.

In honor of Black Sheep’s announcement, Cakes has shared the project’s lead single, “Mind Reader.” (The previously released “Cakewalk” also appears on the record’s tracklist.) The song features agile lyricism from Cakes and a snappy hook from Stout over Katz’s infectious house instrumental.
