Busted's Matt Willis admits 'gaslighting' wife Emma at height of booze and drug addiction
ok.co.ukMatt Willis has opened up about how his alcohol and drug addiction put a strain on his relationship with now-wife Emma Willis, as he admitted that he would "gaslight" her at the height of his addiction.The Busted singer and bassist, 39, has been open about his struggles with addiction, having first become sober in 2008, he later revealed he suffered numerous relapses, including after welcoming his children.
In an upcoming documentary, Matt will be shining a light on addiction, and how his own has affected both himself and those around him.
Discussing the strain his addiction cause their relationship at various, the musician recalled how he became a "mastermind at gaslighting" and that Emma, 47, almost left him a number of times.
He told The Guardian: "I was the mastermind at gaslighting, making her think she was crazy. I’m so ashamed of that, and I never want her to feel like that again." Matt also opened up about his numerous stints in rehab, which he was first sent to after getting in trouble with his record company for not turning up to recording sessions.
