Benjamin Mendy's accuser 'talked herself into believing' that she'd been raped by the footballer, his trial heard. But the woman maintained that Mr Mendy had raped her at his Cheshire mansion, under questioning at his crown court trial.

The 28-year-old, who played for Manchester City at the time of the rape allegation, has pleaded not guilty. He also denies an allegation of attempted rape made by a second woman, which is said to have occurred two years earlier.

On the fourth day of the trial at Chester Crown Court, jurors heard from the woman who has claimed she was raped by Mr Mendy in October 2020, known as Woman Two in reporting of the case.

The jury has heard that she and some of her friends were invited back to Mr Mendy's home by his 'manager', after meeting the men at a bar in Cheshire.
