Beautician mum wins British and European bodybuilding championship

A beautician and mum-of-three who works in Rutherglen is now a Scottish, British and European bodybuilding champion.After losing weight and gaining muscle following giving birth to her three children, Julie Anne Rooney decided to take up bodybuilding about ten years ago.That decision certainly paid off as after previously winning Female Overall at the BNBF Scottish Championships in Perth on June 11, the 42-year-old mother won Women’s Overall at the DFAC European Championships 2023 in Germany on October 28.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

It was crazy and very surreal.”The European win came a month after she competed at the BNBF British Finals in September - winning the Women’s Bodybuilding category in Coventry.Despite the massive win, Julie Anne failed to win the Female Overall in that competition, but she believes that is what spurred her to success in Germany.The OM Beauty Rutherglen owner continued: “Unfortunately, I didn’t win Best Overall at the British, but I do think if I had, then I wouldn’t have gone on to do so at the
