The pair kicked off their semi-final in fourth position behind Bobby Brazier and Dianne Buswell before Layton Williams and Nikita Kuzmin and Annabel Croft and Johannes Radebe took to the dancefloor with their first dances of the night.
Ellie was told by head judge Shirley Ballas that she had some “unique and beautiful leg actions” following the performance of a cha cha cha to Mambo Italiano by Bette Midler with her dance partner Vito.
