BBC Call The Midwife star, 88, looks worlds apart from their TV character

However, in the show, she dresses in simple, modest habits like the other nuns at Nonnatus House. Before joining the popular BBC drama in 2012, Judy had already made a name for herself in the acting world.
She starred in several British TV shows since the 1960s, including the hit spy series The Avengers. Judy's talent has also been recognised with a BAFTA nomination in 2003 for her supporting role as Maria Thins in Girl With a Pearl Earring.
Fans of BBC One's Call the Midwife adore Monica Joan, a sweet and sometimes muddled old lady with early dementia. Judy, who didn't think she'd stay in the series for long, has previously said about Monica Joan: "She comes from a good family and she's an innocent.
