BBC Antiques Roadshow expert tells guest 'I don't want to value it' as 'awful' item leaves him 'sad'

One of the Antiques Roadshow experts was left not wanting to value an 'awful' item as he was left 'sad' by its shocking history.

Sunday night’s episode (March 31) saw Ronnie Archer-Morgan decline to give a valuation to one of the guest’s items after admitting it was ‘one of the most difficult things’ he had ever spoken about on the show.

Fiona Bruce was back at the helm of the BBC One programme as the team headed to Alexandra Gardens in Cardiff. But Ronnie was left stunned when a guest came along with an item that had a history with the transatlantic slave trade.

Speaking in a voiceover, Fiona said: "The item was a disc that acted as an endorsement of the professional reputation of an African slave trader in the West African port of Bonny in the 18th century."
