Barry Robson has solved the Aberdeen FC problems that cost Jim Goodwin his job as old pal spots blossoming 'maturity'

Duncan Shearer watched Barry Robson flick the switch to salvage a playing career in danger of being derailed by an all-too familiar self-destruct button.The Aberdeen legend recalls how the Dons boss arrived at Inverness as an enfant terrible after being shown the door at Rangers.

But Shearer is convinced the 44-year-old’s ability to alter course and have a sterling career with the likes of Celtic and Scotland is now being displayed at Pittodrie.

Robson looks to have solved the problems which cost predecessor Jim Goodwin his job.He said: “I know Barry very well, Steve Paterson signed him for Inverness when he was released by Rangers as a kid and I was Steve’s assistant.

He was a wee bugger. Let’s just say he was hard work at times. I could see why Rangers let him go. He was very moody and had a temperament which wasn’t great.“But all of a sudden he matured.
