The Southfield Hotel in Girvan is to close in order to make way for a family home.A planning application was previously submitted to South Ayrshire Council, seeking a change of use to The Southfield Hotel, at The Avenue.According to papers, a previous application was submitted and passed in 2006 but ultimately this was not implemented.However, a fresh application was made seeking permission for the works.

The site lies within the Conservation Area.The applicant, Sandra Horne, said in planning papers: “I would like to apply for planning permission for a change of use from a hotel to a dwelling house.
