Ashley Cain says it's been a 'turbulent time' after backlash following son's birth

Former footballer Ashley Cain confessed he has had a "turbulent time" in the wake of his son being born.The 33-year-old revealed that he had received backlash when announcing the birth of his son Aliyas Diamond Cain, two years after the death of his daughter Azaylia.

Ashley tragically lost his daughter Azaylia Diamond Cain, who he shared with Safiyaa Vorajee after she was diagnosed with leukaemia at just eight weeks old.The founder of The Azaylia Foundation then ended his relationship with Safiyaa a year after Azaylia's death and later confirmed he was set to become a father again.

Since the birth of his son on 16 January, Ashley said there has been "sticks, stones and storms" thrown his way but that it has been worth it.

In an Instagram post, Ashley said: "A heartfelt thank you to you all for the love, support and kind messages I've received over the last few days. "It has been a turbulent time as you can imagine. "But one that has been worth all of the sticks, the stones and the storms that have come with it. "I am a proud and loving father to both of my children and nothing will ever change that. "So all that matters to me now is honouring my daughter in heaven and nurturing my son on earth. "No matter what my kids come first.
