Ari Lennox is making a direct plea to her label, Dreamville/Interscope. The “Pressure” singer took to Instagram on Tuesday (October 29), where she asked to be released from her contract. “I don’t know what else to do.
I try to do things the right way and no one takes me seriously […] I just want to be released, and it’s just that simple. And I’m tired of being nice, and I was trying to do everything the right way, but now I’m pissed.
This was my final straw,” she said, referring to issues behind-the-scenes involving her newest single, “Smoke,” via Vibe. Keep reading to find out more… She described “Smoke” as her “freedom song” and said: “I love making music.
I loved every moment of making ‘Smoke’ […] and the label neglected me. They left me there by myself […] I refuse to drop an album that nobody’s gonna listen to or my label isn’t gonna promote or market.” On her Instagram Story, she also shared a statement. “Interscope and Dreamville have been playing with me all month and I’m so exhausted.
