A guest on the BBC’s Antiques Roadshow refused to sell his collection of Vivienne Westwood items despite a staggering valuation.

Expert Claire Tole-Moir was on hand to look at a collection of clothing items from Dame Vivienne, which were brought to the show by a huge fan.The fan was also wearing clothes from the fashion designer, with his coat being from the last collection that Vivienne ever worked on.They kicked off the segment with many items from Vivienne’s pirate collection from the 1980s, including pirate shirts, scarves, hats and boots. The guest, from Birmingham, said he would go down to London on the coach and save up his money for weeks just to buy some of the fashion designer's collection.

They told Claire: “I used to come down to London on the coach, it was £10, save up my money for weeks and weeks and weeks, and buy a couple of things a month, and gradually put a look together.” The guest went on to explain it felt like Vivienne gave people an “identity” because she was aiming her clothing at certain communities.

Claire began to take a look at some of the other items that she had in front of her, starting with a harris tweed jacket from 1987, which she explained was based on “uniforms worn at private schools.” She also showed off the Harris tweed crown, which was based on the Coronation crown which the guest had brought in.
