Former cruiserweight world champion Johnny Nelson believes Anthony Joshua is the second best heavyweight in the world behind Oleksandr Usyk - and places him ahead of long-time rival Tyson Fury.Both Joshua and Fury have suffered defeats to unified champion Usyk, with Joshua suffering back-to-back losses in 2021 and 2022 while the "Gypsy King" Fury was handed the first defeat of his professional career by the Ukrainian in the huge undisputed showdown in Saudi Arabia back in May.Since losing his titles, Joshua has bounced back with four consecutive victories and will have the chance to become world champion for a third time when he faces fellow Brit Daniel Dubois for the IBF strap at Wembley Stadium on September 20.

Three months later, Usyk and Fury will do battle for a second time in Riyadh, on December 21, with many boxing fans hoping that the long-awaited fight between Joshua and Fury will finally take place if they can come through their respective opponents.Asked in an interview with Youtube outlet Seconds Out, Nelson - who held the WBO cruiserweight title between 1999 and 2006 - reckons AJ's recent displays have him above Fury as the next best behind Usyk.

He said: "Usyk is obviously number one, and with AJ's last few performances you have got to put him at number two and Tyson Fury at number three."You have got to do that.

It's not flipping and flopping, it's saying what you see. People need to let go of their blind loyalty and just look at the fights, what you see and how it's done."Nelson also hit backs at claims that Joshua has a fragile chin, and points to the fact that Fury was almost knocked out by a much smaller man in Usyk.
