Aldi has officially unveiled its advert for Christmas this year - and it features the return of the much beloved character, Kevin the Carrot.

The budget German supermarket's festive TV spot officially launched earlier today (Monday, November 6), and it has been inspired by the popular family film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

It's not the first time that Aldi's advert has been inspired by a beloved family film, as the Christmas classic Home Alone served as the inspiration for last year's offering.

Narrated by British actor Jim Broadbent, the 90-second TV clip features Aldi's mascot Kevin and his fruit and vegetable friends who can be seen paying a visit to William Conker’s magical gravy-filled Christmas Factory.Accompanied by Grate Grandpa, Kevin embarks on his tour of the festive goodie-filled factory, encountering mischievous characters on the way including dancing Plumty-Dumptys and a Spoilt Little Sprout, reports NottinghamshireLive. Similar to the film, the supermarket's Christmas advert features five lucky winners to visit the factory including ‘Greedy, Gluttonous Grape’ and ‘Naughty Green Kiwi’, all who find themselves in a spot of bother after not listening to the rules.The end of the advert finds Kevin being the last standing and handed the cheese-shaped keys to the factory, with the popular vegetable asking the wholesome question: "Can I share my good fortune with everyone?"Concluding with the closing message ‘Seasonal goodwill was truly in the air as Christmas is a time that’s sweeter when you share’, there is a cheerful crowd of characters from Aldi’s Christmas past, including Ebanana
