A couple who unintentionally acquired a dilapidated mansion in Dunoon, instead of the Glasgow city centre flat they had intended to buy have finally received approval for their new home.

Four years ago, Cal Hunter, then 26 years old from Hull, and Claire Segeren, 23 years old from Toronto, embarked on the journey of purchasing a flat in Glasgow as they decided to move in together.

Cal was entrusted with placing a bid on a property in the city centre but made a significant error. During the auction, Cal mistakenly bid on the wrong unit, resulting in their acquisition of Jameswood Villa, an uninhabitable property located in Dunoon on the Cowal peninsula, almost two hours away from Glasgow.

The young couple featured on the BBC One Scotland show Accidental Renovators, as they confronted an intimidating list of issues plaguing the property, which had remained vacant for over three decades.
