World basketball sensation captures of hearts of Lanarkshire schoolkids and refugees

Love was all around a true giant in the world of basketball when the international star was welcomed to Lanarkshire by Turkish refugees who have made the area their home.

Having admired pictures of Scotland for as long as he can remember, Turkish-American professional basketball star Enes Kanter Freedom fulfilled his dream of visiting the country this month – and chose to devote much of his limited time to meeting members of Lanarkshire’s Turkish community and coaching young basketball enthusiasts at a local high school.

Around 100 members of the Turkish community gathered around the table for a feast at the Nurture Educational and Multi-cultural Society, Cambuslang, in honour of 31-year-old Enes, who last played for the Boston Celtics of the National Basketball Association (NBA).
