Woman appears in court after two friends killed in Oldham crash

A woman has denied causing the death of two friends in a crash in Oldham. Harry Atkinson, 20, and Lewis Meeson, 21, died following the collision on High Barn Street in Royton, Oldham, on April 15, 2022.

Police previously said the pair were both riding on a yellow Suzuki off-road motorbike which was involved in a collision with a grey Ford Kuga car shortly before 11am.

Today (Friday, April 5, 2024), Natalie Read, 40, appeared in court charged with two counts of causing death by careless driving following the incident. READ MORE: Popular Greater Manchester market cancelled due to Storm Kathleen weather warning The particulars of the charges state that on April 15 on High Barn Street she drove a Ford Kuga 'without due care and attention' and 'thereby caused the death' of both men.

Ms Read, spoke only to confirm her name, date of birth and to enter her pleas. She formally entered pleas of not guilty to both offences.
