Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson Hon FRIBA (born 19 June 1964) is a British politician, writer, and former journalist serving as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and Leader of the Conservative Party since 2019. He was Foreign Secretary from 2016 to 2018 and Mayor of London from 2008 to 2016. Johnson was Member of Parliament for Henley from 2001 to 2008 and has been MP for Uxbridge and South Ruislip since 2015. Ideologically, Johnson identifies as a one-nation conservative.

A former Scots Tory leader has blasted the UK Government’s response to claims of another drinks party at Downing Street during lockdown.Baroness Davidson criticised suggestions of waiting for an official probe to determine whether Boris Johnson and his colleagues attended the event in May 2020.

She tweeted: “What tf were any of these people thinking?”Police are in contact with the Cabinet Office over claims an aide to the Prime Minister organised a “bring your own booze” drinks party during the first lockdown.Following political calls for officers to investigate allegations relating to May 2020, the Metropolitan Police confirmed it is liaising with the Whitehall department over the latest claims.Martin Reynolds, the Prime Minister’s principal private secretary, sent an email to more than 100 Downing Street employees asking them to “bring your own booze” for an evening gathering, ITV reported.Reynolds said they should “make the most of the lovely weather”, despite England being under tough coronavirus restrictions banning groups from meeting socially outdoors when the message was sent.A spokesman for Scotland Yard said: “The Metropolitan Police Service is aware of widespread reporting relating to alleged breaches of the Health Protection Regulations at Downing Street on May 20 2020 and is in contact with the Cabinet Office.”Multiple reports have suggested the Prime Minister attended the event with his wife, Carrie Johnson.Health Minister Edward Argar said this morning he could understand why people are “angry, upset and hurt by these allegations”, but insisted people should wait for an internal investigation to conclude.Davidson blasted: “This line won't survive 48 hrs.
