Nicole Kidman and Liev Schreiber lead the cast in Netflix’s The Perfect Couple.Based on the novel by Elin Hilderbrand, the miniseries sees a couple’s lavish wedding plans in Nantucket go awry when a body washes up on the beach on the morning of the ceremony.Other cast members include Eve Hewson, Billy Howle, Meghann Fahy, Donna Lynne Champlin, Jack Reynor, Michael Beach, Ishaan Khatter, Sam Nivola, Mia Isaac, and Dakota Fanning. All six episodes of the miniseries debuted September 5, 2024 on Netflix. In the opening titles, the cast are seen dancing on the beach to ‘Criminals’ by Meghan Trainor.

The song is taken from the deluxe version of her sixth studio album, ‘Timeless’.The original idea for the dance sequence came from executive producer Gail Berman, who was a producer on Wednesday.

In that show, Jenna Ortega had a dance number to The Cramps’ ‘Goo Goo Muck’ which went viral on TikTok.The dance scene in The Perfect Couple was originally going to be part of a nightmare dream sequence in episode five, but the idea was cut and repurposed for the opening.Speaking to Tudum, showrunner Jenna Lamia said: “[Director] Susanne Bier had this really brilliant thought that if we were to use a dance like that as the opening credits, it would tell people right away that, yes, this is a murder mystery, and yes, it’s a thriller, but you’re also going to have so much fun, so sit back and enjoy the ride.“It’s really important, I think, that people realise the tone of the show is not The Undoing, or something that Susanne has done before; this is a fun murder mystery.
