The latest artist to roll through the NPR offices to record a Tiny Desk Concert is Scarface. The rapper isn't promoting a new project but rather reflecting on his career as he approaches retirement.
Joined by producer Mike Dean on keys, Scarface runs through multiple eras of his catalog including solo hits "On My Block" and the haunting "I Seen a Man Die," as well as turning the clock back even further for a run through of Geto Boys’ "Mind Playing Tricks on Me." Last month the Paid In Full Foundation honored Scarface (plus Rakim) for his contribution to hip-hop. He was awarded $500,000 at the Hip-Hop Grandmaster Awards in Las Vegas.
