Tributes paid to former lord lieutenant of Lanarkshire Mushtaq Ahmad

Warm tributes have been paid to Mushtaq Ahmad OBE, the former lord lieutenant of Lanarkshire, who has died at the age of 81.The distinguished politician and community leader made history as the first Asian lord lieutenant and provost in Scotland, and served for nearly two decades as a councillor in Hamilton District and later South Lanarkshire.His successor as lord lieutenant, current incumbent Lady Susan Haughey CBE, led the tributes to Mr Ahmad, saying: “His dedication to his role and the community was extraordinary.”The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.
