Scottish author and DJ Irvine Welsh delighted fans at Leith Festival this weekend as he got behind the decks and played a very familiar rave tune that many of us will recognise from the 1996 film Trainspotting.Irvine, who wrote the novel Trainspotting before it was developed into a film directed by Danny Boyle, is also the author of cult classics such as Filth and Porno.
But he also used to be a 'real raver' back in the day, and is said to have been involved in dance music for most of his life.
A clip from Leith Festival shared on social media shows the Edinburgh-born author performing his packed DJ set which even featured a remix of Born Slippy by Underworld - much to the delight of Trainspotting fans.
The video was shared on X formerly known as Twitter by author Kevin Williamson, and a lively party atmosphere can be seen around the DJ tent as the sun beats down on the crowd dancing to the music. "Leith being Leith.
