Trains, buses and planes: What the King's Speech means for transport

Labour's plans for transport have been set out in the King's Speech. The new government has brought forward 40 bills in total, including some that affect trains, buses and planes.

The package of legislation also includes HS2, the cancelled high-speed railway line to Manchester which Labour insists it is not bringing back.

According to the Prime Minister's office, this bill will be repurposed to improve rail connectivity in the north of England and could see new stations built at Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Airport.
