Thunderstorms to hit Lanarkshire for second day in a row as 'hazardous' alert issued

Lanarkshire should brace for more wet weather tonight as the Met Office has issued a fresh yellow thunderstorm warning. After parts of the country were doused in torrential rain on Tuesday, a fresh warning is in place on Wednesday, June 21.

From noon until 6pm, forecasters are predicting more "heavy showers", hail and lightning resulting in "hazardous conditions".

Up to 20mm of heavy rain is set to fall within a single hour, while 30mm could fall in a three hour period in a few places. The latest alert stretches across the Highlands, Aberdeen, Edinburgh and Glasgow and commuters in these areas should prepare for transport delays.
