This Morning viewers were forced to “switch off” during today’s show as they aired a special segment all about a terrifying clown.

For the last three years around Halloween, someone dresses up as Pennywise from the horror film IT, and goes around the Scottish village of Skelmorlie, surprising the residents.

On Monday, 16 October, This Morning headed up to Scotland to visit the village and showcase the clown in some scary scenes. Hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary handed over to Isla Traquair, who had a chat with the clown, who had a message for Alison.

He asked the host: “Does it help you sleep better at night, telling yourself I’m just here to fright. “The only mask that I can see is the one you wear when you say you don’t fear me.” Isla then asked the clown what he actually does, and he explained: “I come up with games with a frightening theme, usually something to do with Halloween. “Then the village must unite to solve all of the clues before the time runs out, which would mean that they lose.” The clown then explained that they have to complete the games for the clown to go away. They also showed several clips of the clown around the village, sitting on benches and walking through fields.
