The north of England is set to be battered by more rain than anywhere else in the UK this week, with frost and plummeting temperatures expected to return as early as the weekend.

A yellow weather warning for rain across parts of the north of England, including parts of Greater Manchester, has been issued by the Met Office for Thursday (September 26).

It warns of 'heavy rainfall' which could bring a small chance of flooding to homes and businesses, power cuts and delays to public transport.
