Designs for HS2 trains that were supposed to reach Manchester have been revealed, including 'the most comfortable' seats in the UK.
HS2 Ltd has unveiled the test designs for the high-speed trains that are still set to travel between London and Birmingham. It comes just over a year after the Northern leg of the multi-billion pound project was cancelled under Rishi Sunak's Conservative government.
The former Prime Minister said at the time that HS2 trains would still reach Manchester on the existing West Coast Mainline.
However, a report published following the general election in July revealed that the move could mean fewer passengers can travel on the route. READ MORE: 'It's only October, but the NHS winter crisis has already arrived' MPs were told earlier this year that, unless Piccadilly station is extended or changes are made at Crewe, these trains will have fewer seats than existing services between London and Manchester.
