A dad-of-seven whose family are the last ones living in a now-derelict street has hit out at council chiefs who want to bulldoze his home.

Demonique Wilson and his wife Thabo are locked in a bitter dispute with Salford town hall bosses over the value of his house which is set to be demolished to make way for a £250m regeneration project.

Their three-bed home on Holcombe Close, Pendleton is the only remaining occupied property in the otherwise derelict row. A planning application that would see the row of houses demolished and replaced by the 485-home scheme - which is part of a major regeneration of Pendleton that has been taking shape for over a decade - is ‘under consultation’ with Salford city council.

But mental health nurse Mr Wilson, 55, his wife Thabo and their children remain in their home because they say the council have only offered what he claims is only the value of a two-bedroom house to leave - meaning he can’t find an affordable home big enough to accommodate them.
