Cube-shaped blocks blocked the pavement from traffic along Stamford New Road - and doubled as seating. They were installed during the first phase of work to improve the town centre. In August 2020, the council replaced the cubes with cylindrical blocks, at a cost of almost £30,000. At the time, councillor Dan Jerrome, Green Party representative for Altrincham, said: "This is a move in the right direction.
