Amazon Joins Motion Picture Association, as Entertainment and Tech Converge

Gene Maddaus Senior Media Writer Amazon will become the newest member of the Motion Picture Association next month, adding its tech industry clout to the Hollywood lobbying group. Amazon is both a streamer and a traditional studio, operating Prime Video and MGM Studios, which it bought for $8.5 billion in 2021. Its decision to join the MPA is a symbol of the convergence of entertainment and Big Tech, which were separated by a sharp divide not that long ago.

‘Shadow Of The Colossus’ soundtrack comes to Spotify after 17 years
Spotify by Sony, including Gravity Rush, Shadow Of The Colossus, Soul Sacrifice and more. The SIE Sound Team account on Spotify is the one-stop shop for the soundtracks to a selection of the most acclaimed games on PlayStation, such as Astro Bot Rescue Mission, Bloodborne, Demon’s Souls, The Last Guardian and more. With this recently released lot, fans will be able to listen to the soundtracks to Echochrome, Fantavision, Freedom Wars, Gravity Rush, Patchwork Heroes, PoPoLoCrois, popolocrois: a new departure, PoPoRoGue, Shadow Of The Colossus, Soul Sacrifice, What Did I Do To Deserve This, My Lord!? 1 & 2, White Knight Chronicles, White Knight Chronicles 2 and Wild Arms (as pointed out by X user AniPlaylist). At the time of writing, these have not appeared on any other streaming services like Apple Music, so it might be a matter of time before the aforementioned soundtracks become available elsewhere. For fans of Shadow Of The Colossus, it is a boon that they no longer have to rely on YouTube to listen to the soundtrack, which is one of the highlights of the reflective experience of playing the game.In Jack Richardson’s exploration of Team Ico’s original action adventure for NME‘s Remastered column, he argued that the emptiness and minimalism of the game’s direction is specifically haunting in a way that is unique to the medium.“Games have two stories: the one that takes place in the game and the story of us playing it. There’s certainly an artistry behind combining these two as closely as possible, but it’s not a necessary goal,” he said.“When we play Colossus, we’re constantly challenged to interpret what’s going on as we do it.

However, to fans who criticised their absence on launch, he replied “game dev isn’t simple, nor easy“.Speaking to NME about the opportunities he’s had over his career, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 creative director Bryan Intihar shared why he has made a habit of revelling in even the smallest of achievements with his team at Insomniac Games.“Sometimes it feels like you’re hitting your head against a wall over and over again, and when you finally break through, you should celebrate those victories,” he said.“Ninety per cent of game development can be really tough, but that 10 per cent makes up for it.

New PS5 model will support expandable storage
the new PS5 model will have more storage than the original model, it will still support additional solid state drives (SSDs) to increase its capacity.Revealed on October 10, the new model is a lot slimmer than before, reducing its volume by 30 per cent and its weight by 18 and 24 per cent. It will launch in November in the United States with a digital edition and an edition with a detachable disc drive.Crucially, the specifications of the new PS5 have stayed the same bar a 1TB SSD, an improvement on the original 825GB SSD.In practice, only 667GB of the SSD was useable by the original console for games and applications, meaning that the majority of players shelled out for an SSD to install at the back of their PS5.Titles like NBA 2K23, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and Horizon Forbidden West can chew up the available storage on PS5s owing to their volume of content and realistic yet technically complex graphics.Fortunately though, IGN confirmed with a PlayStation spokesperson that “there are no changes with the new model” so that method of attaching an additional SSD to the console is the same.Sony’s intention with the redesign was to offer its customers “greater choice and flexibility” when it comes to the PS5 console. That being said, the detachable disc drive that allows physical games to be played on the digital edition will be sold separately, priced at £99.99 ($79.99)A horizontal stand will be included with the new PS5, but a vertical stand will be sold separately priced at £24.99 (£29.99).
