Summerlee set to stage speedway spectacular

Speedway enthusiasts are revving up for the return of a popular event celebrating the sport which is taking place at Summerlee museum in Coatbridge this weekend.Dedicated fan John Houston, assisted by members of his Speedway Memories group, has arranged an exhibition of vintage bikes and memorabilia at the Coatbridge venue from 11am to 4pm this Saturday, June 11.It will be the first time since 2019 that the activity day has been able to take place; with the guests anticipated to include a number of past and present riders including those who competed at local tracks in the sport’s Lanarkshire heyday.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

While the popular event could not be staged in 2020 or 2021 due to the Covid pandemic, Summerlee last year staged a four-month exhibition entitled Cinder Kings which attracted thousands of fans and visitors from across the country.
