Strictly's Amy Dowden says BBC show 'saved her life' as she opens up on cancer diagnosis

Strictly Come Dancing star Amy Dowden appeared on Friday's Loose Women show and opened up about her cancer diagnosis.The 33-year-old was diagnosed with stage II breast cancer earlier this year and today joined the panel for the ITV lunchtime chat show alongside Jayne Moore, Nadia Sawalha, Denise Welch and Judi Love as she sported a bright smile alongside the hosts who had all dressed in pink in support of the BBC star.Amy went on to say that it was because of Strictly Come Dancing that her life was saved as it led her to meet new people and get involved in charity Coppafeel before she was diagnosed.Opening up to the Loose ladies, the professional dancer said: "That's the wonderful thing about Strictly it's the friendships you create,""Strictly partnering me with the Fletchers has saved my life." Amy revealed as she explained that she took part in Coppafeel's charity walk alongside Giovanna Fletcher after meeting her through her husband Tom Fletcher.Amy was previously partnered on Strictly with Giovanna's husband Tom and said it was after taking part in the Coppafeel trek which led her to start checking her breasts when she noticed the signs the day before she was due to head on her honeymoon.

The professional dancer opened up further on her choice to keep the heartbreaking news from her husband Ben Jones, as they continued their honeymoon in the Maldives and although not officially confirmed by doctors Amy said she "just knew." She said: "I didn't tell my husband Ben, I went on the honeymoon I just had this gut feeling.
