Voters in Stockport have had their say in the 2023 local elections. Due to boundary changes, all 63 seats were contested in the wards Bramhall North, Bramhall South and Woodford, Bredbury and Woodley, Bredbury Green and Romiley, Brinnington and Central, Cheadle and Gatley, Cheadle Hulme North, Cheadle Hulme South, Davenport and Cale Green, Edgeley and Cheadle Heath, Hazel Grove, Heald Green, Heatons North, Heatons South, Manor, Marple North, Marple South and High Lane, Offerton, Reddish North, Reddish South and Stepping Hill.
Ahead of the election, Stockport Borough Council was controlled by the Liberal Democrats. READ MORE: Join the FREE Manchester Evening News WhatsApp community Local elections took place for more than 200 local authorities across the UK.
In Greater Manchester seats were available in the region's 10 councils. Mayoral elections are also taking place in Bedford, Leicester, Mansfield and Middlesborough.
Voters were only electing their local councillors in this election with the next General Election not scheduled until 28 January 2025 at the very latest.
