Doctor Who actor Stewart Bevan has died at the age of 73. The TV star played Professor Clifford Jones in the iconic series back in 1973.
Stewart was the perfect sidekick alongside Jon Pertwee's doctor - the third incarnation in the long-running series - and swiftly became a fan-favourite.
His death was confirmed by his former co-star Katy Manning today, Monday, February 21. "The most beautiful man poet actor screenwriter husband & father to @CoralBevan @Misswendybevan went on his awfully big adventure," Katy shared. "He was the love in my life for many years on & off screen & our wonderful friendship continued to the end." Katy played the Doctor's companion Jo Grant in the third series, sharing plenty of funny quips and moments with Stewart over the course of a six-episode stint.
Stewart's Professor Jones was a Welsh biologist that helps the Doctor defeat an evil oil plant on the hugely-popular BBC show.
