St Johnstone have again been dumped out of the Scottish Cup at the fourth round stage.In fact, the Perth club has failed to win a game in the competition since lifting the trophy in 2021.The stumbling block on this occasion proved to be a very well-drilled Airdrie side who, absolutely, were deserving of their place in the next round.Nikolay Todorov grabbed the second half winner for the Championship outfit.Perth boss Craig Levein handed Benjamin Kimpioka his first start and he wasted little time in showing his willingness to run the channels and stretch the game.The best early chance at the Excelsior Stadium, however, had fallen to Airdrie and because of the casual nature of Graham Carey’s play in the middle of the park.He gifted possession deep in his own territory to Adam Frizzell who, quite quickly, was through one-on-one with Dimitar Mitov.Mitov bailed Saints - and Carey - out of a sticky situation by diving low to smartly save.As the fixture ticked beyond the half hour mark, Airdrie had looked the more composed and threatening when it came to carving out anything resembling clear-cut chances.But Kimpioka suddenly had a 36th minute opportunity when determination coupled with a spinning ball almost presented him with an open goal.Frizzell, Airdrie’s captain, was proving to be a menace and Andy Considine was required to make a last-ditch recovery tackle to prevent imminent danger.Sixteen-year-old Fran Franczak did not appear for the second half - presumably injured - and was replaced by Sven Sprangler.Airdrie continued to look the better team and deservedly took the lead in the 54th minute when Todorov guided home from inside the box for his fourth goal in as many games.Luke Robinson, back on loan from Wigan, entered
