‘Scream’ star Jasmin Savoy Brown hasn’t ‘gotten a call’ about ‘sequel’ after Jenna Ortega and Melissa Barrera’s exits
nypost.comEntertainment Tonight if she’ll return to the iconic film franchise. “I haven’t gotten a call,” the 29-year-old shrugged Monday after the Emmys 2024 when asked if she’d return for the next installment. “If you want to ask Spyglass what they’re doing, you can,” she added about the film production company.
The Post has contacted Spyglass Media Group for comment. Brown’s revelation comes after the news that neither Melissa Barrera nor Jenna Ortega will return in the upcoming “Scream VII,” which is expected to be released in late 2024 or early 2025.Barrera, 33, was axed from the upcoming slasher film in November due to her controversial comments on social media about the Israel-Hamas war.“First and foremost I condemn Anti-Semitism and Islamophobia.
I condemn hate and prejudice of any kind against any group of people,” Barrera wrote in an Instagram Story upon getting fired.“As a latina, a proud Mexicana, I feel the responsibility of having a platform that allows me the privilege of being heard,” she said. “Therefore I have tried to use it to raise awareness about issues I care about and to lend my voice to those in need.”Barrera and Ortega played sisters Sam and Tara Carpenter in the franchise.
They were both related to 1996 “Scream” original ghost face masked killer Billy Loomis.Ortega will not be returning to the franchise due to scheduling conflicts with Season 2 of her Netflix show, “Wednesday.”However, Barrera still met up with “Scream” stars Mason Gooding, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Liana Liberato, Tony Revolori, Skeet Ulrich and Jack Quaid earlier this week and posted a picture of the reunion on Instagram.“Yeah.
