A Scottish zoo has revealed that it will be welcoming two lions rescued from Ukraine.On Monday morning, Five Sisters Zoo stated that a pair of lionesses that were saved from a private owner amidst "heavy bombing" in 2022 would be arriving in Scotland "soon".
The animals, named Luna and Plusza, are currently on their way to the West Lothian attraction.After being saved in Ukraine, Luna and Plusza were given "urgent medical care" in Kyiv.
They were then relocated to a zoo in Poland, before being transported to Belgium.Taking to Facebook, Five Sisters Zoo commented: "We are excited to share that Luna and Plusza, two four-year-old lionesses rescued from Ukraine, will soon be arriving at Five Sisters Zoo!"These sisters were evacuated from a private owner in Eastern Ukraine during the heavy bombing of the region in 2022.
After receiving urgent medical care at a shelter in Kyiv, they were relocated to Poznan Zoo in Poland before making their way to our friends at Natuurhulpcentrum Opglabbeek in Belgium."Thanks to the incredible efforts of many compassionate individuals, Luna and Plusza are now safe and preparing for their upcoming journey to Scotland.
