A 'controversial' new law surrounding the harm caused by hatred and prejudice has officially come into force in Scotland today.The Hate Crime and Public Order (Scotland) Act was initially passed by MSPs back in 2021, and it builds upon existing offences for stirring up racial hatred that have been in place across the UK since 1986.
