The brother of a 30-year-old Scot who slipped into a five-week coma after an alleged murder bid has told of the heartbreaking daily struggle he faces while recovering from brain damage.Jamie Hood was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with serious injuries after he was found at a block of flats on Gerrard Street, Aberdeen on December 6.
Two women, aged 36 and 29, and a 35-year-old man were charged in connection with the incident and are due to appear in court.Dillan Neil, 24, was forced to watch his older sibling fight for his life over Christmas and New Year after doctors found extensive brain damage.
Sales and marketing worker Dillan told the Record: "Jamie was found on the seventeenth floor of Greig Court with a serious head injury and he was wearing shorts."He was admitted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and given the minimal amount of sedation as doctors thought he might have suffered a seizure."He was in a coma for five weeks, the doctors couldn't wake him.
They couldn't really pinpoint what was wrong."Then in January his eyes opened - he wasn't really all there and he couldn't communicate or control his movement.Jamie regained full consciousness around three weeks ago and is now at the neurological rehab ward at the city's Woodend Hospital as he recovers from brain damage.Dillan continued: "He finally woke up three weeks ago but he's still not fully able to communicate or control his movement."He has widespread brain damage."Every day is a struggle for Jamie, who is working towards regaining his speech and movement.
