The late Queen and her former daughter-in-law, Sarah, Duchess of York, maintained a close bond even after Prince Andrew and Sarah's 1992 separation and their subsequent divorce four years later.

While they have been referred to as "the happiest divorced couple in the world" and still live together at Andrew's Royal Lodge home in Windsor, Fergie never fell out of the late monarch's favour - with the pair frequently spending time together, enjoying their many shared interests.

In fact, the year after the divorce was completed, the Queen showed how much she still cared for Sarah and bought her a large house in Surrey to live in with her daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.

However, she never got to use it. It is well-known that Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie were very close with their grandmother and spent a lot of time with her when they were growing up nearby on the Windsor Estate in both Sunninghill Park and Royal Lodge.
