Sandi Toksvig has opened up about quitting Channel 4's The Great British Bake Off in 2020.The 65-year-old was Noel Fielding's partner-in-crime after the beloved TV format moved from the BBC to its rival broadcaster three channels down.
She would eventually be replaced by Little Britain's Matt Lucas as co-host, before This Morning's Alison Hammond took over the reins for the series just gone.
She recently told Radio Times: "To be honest, I left Bake Off because I stopped having fun. I was literally standing there watching meringues dry and thinking 'Oh my God, my brain is atrophying'. "So, after three years, I thought 'That’ll do; go and do something else!' I'm in love enough with the business to think 'OK, that's a nice pay cheque, but it doesn't work for me.
I'll move on and do something else.'" At the time of her Bake Off departure, which followed David Atherton's victory in the competition, this is how Sandi's goodbye statement read: "When stepping down from a job it is quite common for people to say they are doing so in order to spend more time with their family.
