J. Kim Murphy Russell Brand has made his first public comments since The Sunday Times of London published an article disclosing five women’s allegations of “rape, sexual assaults and emotional abuse” against the actor.
In a video posted to his official YouTube channel Friday afternoon, Brand did not directly acknowledge the details of the accusations, but instead alluded to them with an opening statement. “Hello there, you awakening wonders,” Brand begins. “Obviously, it’s been an extraordinary and distressing week, and I thank you very much for your support and for questioning the information that you’ve been presented with.” Brand continues from there by noting topics that he plans to discuss on his YouTube channel in the coming week.
The video’s title, “So…,” also seems to be a vague acknowledgement of the unfavorable spotlight that Brand now finds himself under.
