Buckingham Palace has insisted that King Charles did not deliberately snub his granddaughter on her birthday.Princess Lilibet celebrated her second birthday over the weekend.

However, there was no mention of her big day on any of the official social media channels for the royal family. Some reports claimed that 'The Firm' had deliberately snubbed the toddler's birthday.

However, a palace source said it had “never been protocol” to share formal birthday wishes for non-working members of the royal family or their children on “official channels.” Despite this, the birthdays of both Lilibet and Archie were celebrated in 2022 by royal social media accounts, reports the Daily Beast. The source also claimed that birthday wishes to the second child of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may have been shared privately. And, although the palace denied that the lack of birthday posts on social media is anything personal, the oversight is likely to further fuel speculation as to the extent of the fracturing of the relationship between the royals and the estranged Sussexes.

The king’s various accounts have continued marking the birthdays of William and Kate’s children, and last year, the official Twitter accounts for the Prince and Princess of Wales also wished Lilibet a happy first birthday. Her brother Archie’s birthday went unremarked by the palace this year, however, given it occurred on the same day as the coronation, the omission drew less attention.
